This was such an INTERESTING PLACE to visit? Site of the Homestake Gold Mine where 41,000,000 ounces was mined in the past. But it is useful in today's world of research. Do you know the word "neutrino"? If not, then stopping here is a …
This was not in my itinerary to go here. It was recommended by our friends who are residence of Deadwood. For sure make a quick stop here in Lead if you’re on your way to Deadwood. …
I was interested in seeing the open pit mine and it did not disappoint. My children were not particularly excited, but the resident cat who lives on the lookout (he has a tag explaining that he belongs there) saved the day for them :). The …
If you like science, geology and mining history prepare to spend some time reading and watching all the exhibits.
Free admission and very nice staff. A nice place to spend an hour or so, specifically to see the former Homestake Mine. Some very informative exhibits and short films about their current scientific research here and dark matter.
Decided to stop in when I was visiting in Deadwood. My Dad worked and retired from the mine. Back in the day, he gave me a tour of the mine above ground. It is a reminder how hard mining is.
Our tour was great. Very knowledgeable and funny tour guide.
Neat visitor center about the Homestake mine and then all the cool science experiments they are able to do there now!
Very interesting place! Free to visit and worth the visit.
About an hour to go through and I learned alot about past and new scientific research being conducted.
Cool place, free admission. A lot to read and a few things to look at inside. Small gift shop. Largest gold mine at one point. Huge parking lot.
